2012 a busy year
for PHL Azkals

MANILA – A busy year beckons for the Philippine Azkals as exhibition matches against foreign clubs have been lined up in preparation for two major international tournaments.

National team manager Dan Palami, who spoke at the PSA Forum at Shakey's U.N. Avenue in Ermita, Manila Tuesday, said the Azkals will kick off 2012 with a friendly match against a Spanish third division squad on January 7 at the Rizal Memorial football stadium.

The Azkals, who lost to the David Beckham-led Los Angeles Galaxy, 1-6, in a goodwill match last Saturday at the same football field, are also using the February 29 international friendly date to play against a country ranked higher than them in the Fifa rankings.

Bacolod keglers
reign supreme

Sharp-Bacolod led in the team competition, as Lawrence Llena of ASSFBI Electronz-Bacolod won the individual master’s title of the three-day 4th Governor V. Tanco Cup Regional Invitational Bowling Tournament at the Capiz Bowling Sports Center in Roxas City.

Nonoy Ruiz and Leonard Nemenzo of TNT Construction-Bacolod were first and second runners-up.

The Irne Diaz’ Sharp Team won the top prize over twice-to-beat TNT headed by Ruiz in the deciding contest, 356-336.

Cayetano to join
Bacolod eco-tour

Senator Pia Cayetano will join the Bacolod Eco-Tour Montain Bike Adventure Race Saturday at the San Francisco Resort in Brgy. Alangilan, Bacolod City.

Cayetano, a veteran triathlete, swimmer, biker, runner, lawyer and women's advocate, will compete in the Duathlon event where participants's endurance and speed will be tested by taking on a tough off-trail course consisting of a 5-kilometer run, 10-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run, a press release from her office said.

She will be in Bacolod City to lead the launch and signing of her first book, “My Daily Race,” tomorrow night, the press release added.*
