Toti’s Hawaiian Luau
Aloha! It was truly a unique Hawaiian Luau birthday bash for the “sexiest” (?) 80-year-old widower in town, Toti Ramos. Guests trooped to the La Proa Ballroom of L’Fisher Hotel dressed in colorful Hawaiian costumes and leis.
Toti’s kids and grandchildren, who took care of all the details that created an atmosphere for a magical night, were all there to help their beloved patriarch entertain their guests. Naturally, Toti’s gang, the Sunshine Boys, joined the celebration for their dear friend. They even danced the line dance to the tune of Achy, Breaky Heart! (Ahhh, such brave young men, indeed!).
Excellent wine and other drinks flowed all night to complement the scrumptious pica-pica. Everyone enjoyed the superb dinner which was meticulously chosen for the occasion. Guests were entertained with delightful songs and dances performed by family members. Before Toti could deliver his speech, his friends kidded him, “Lip-uta lang ha”? (Toti is famous for delivering 45-minute speeches!). But soon, he had the audience laughing with his wicked sense of humor and his jokes about his age. He paid tribute to the Sunshine Boys for keeping him forever young and for the love and support of his loving family.
Soon it was ballroom dancing time and the guests swirled and twirled to the infectious dance music all night. It was a blast! Happy Birthday, Toti!*
