SP grants guv
power over jail site

The Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan yesterday granted Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. authority to negotiate the sale and lease of the site of the defunct Negros Occidental Provincial Jail in Bacolod City.

The authority was granted the governor so the provincial government can earn from the vacated property, Board Member Salvador Escalante said.

In July the inmates of the Negros Occidental Provincial Jail in Bacolod City were finally transferred to the provincial government built P100-million Negros Occidental District Jail in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City.*
