VRHD celebrates 32 years

BUDDAI

The volunteer for the Rehabilitation of the Handicapped and Disabled Inc. celebrated its 32 years of existence and services last Saturday at the Agape Hall of the Carmelite Monastery, Mandalagan, in the City of Smiles.

About 300 participants from different sectors – persons with disabilities, volunteers, doctors, guests, benefactors and academe –attended the celebration. This also served as a venue for inter-action and sharing of experiences and updating issues and concerns regarding PWD projects and program.

The program started at 2 p.m. with a thanksgiving mass with Msgr. Noly Que of the Queen of Peace Parish as the main celebrant, followed by a short program.

A welcome message was given by VRHD president Mila Cabrera Chiu, then a welcome song interpreted by the Grade II to Grade VI Hearing Impaired Students of the Bacolod City SPED Center, trained by Bethzaida de la Cruz. A message from chairperson Harish Nandawani followed, then a brief accomplishment report on VRHD by vice chairperson Dr. Nena Nolido.

The highlight of the program was the distribution of wheelchairs to VRHD beneficiaries led by Araceli (Tita Bukay) Ramos and officers of VRHD. It was a most memorable occasion for the special children, and the parents.
