Body of 5-year-old
found under garbage

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The body of a 5-year-old girl was found covered with garbage at the shoreline of Sitio Magsungay in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, yesterday.

The fatality was identified as Chaya Miranda of Purok 2 in Brgy. 39, Bacolod, by case investigator Police Officer 1 Roberto Gaurana of Police Station 8.

Gaurana said a certain “Moroy Alcazari”, and an “alias Inggot” saw the child lying on her belly while they were collecting twigs for a bonfire at about 8 a.m. at the shorelines of Purok 6.

Rolando Miranda, the child’s father, said he last saw his daughter at about 4 p.m. Wednesday while she was playing near a creek in the purok and that she failed to come home.

Miranda said he sought the help of neighbors to see if his daughter had drowned in the creek but they only recovered a slipper.

He said his neighbors informed him that the body of a child was recovered at the shorelines in Sitio Magsungay and when he went to check, he positively identified it as that of his daughter.

The child’s body was already bloated, but no visible wounds were found on it, Gaurana said.

The body was brought to the Abe’s Funeral Homes and will be subjected to autopsy to ascertain whether she was killed or had accidentally drowned, Gaurana also said.

The case has been referred to the Bacolod City Police Women’s and Children’s Complaint’s Desk for further investigation.

In August this year, the body of an epileptic child was also recovered in the area.*APN
