AACI Farms foils Trading’s bid to
book semis seat in Fil-Sino tilt

AACI Trading missed on a chance to advance to the semifinals when it fell to AACI Farms, 96-93, in Class A of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 3rd Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang gym.

From a 21-all standoff, Daniel Chiu made 4 out of 4 triple and teammates Nico Lopingco scored 11 points while Julius Teruel added seven points to  give Farms a 55-39 lead at the break.

The Trading guys launched a comeback in the third quarter with anny Boy Uy leading the pack with 17 points to cut  the deficit to 75-71. He got scoring support from Robbie Jalando-on and Fr. Clarence Canafe, who delivered six points each.

Bacolod Sanggunian
passes Sports Ordinance

An ordinance known as the Bacolod Sports and Development Ordinance of 2011 was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on its third and final reading recently.

The ordinance, authored by Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman of SP Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government, aims to have a comprehensive sports development program that will involve the greater participation of the young people in Bacolod City in the year-long activities that will be formulated by the Bacolod City Sports Development Council that will be created by this ordinance.

Distrito said the present sports body remains ineffective and non-functional, and resulted in the deprivation of the citizens of Bacolod of an appropriate and effective sports development program.

Best-of-three showdown
starts today in Albee Cup 

After almost four months of weekend competition, the top two teams in both the Open and 40-Up divisions of the 1st Tercer Distrito Albee Cup Basketball Tournament will be playing their respective best-of-three series starting this weekend, a press release from the organizers said.

Victorias and Silay will dispute the title in the 40-Up category with the first encounter set this afternoon, 4 p.m. at Kansilayan Gym in Silay City. Simultaneously, EB Magalona and Talisay will dispute Game 1 in the Open division at the Talisay gym.

Unbeaten in the eliminations, Silay topped the 40-Up group and enjoyed a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals, while Talisay took the No. 1 spot in the Open division with seven wins and one loss.
