Cops to file charges
for robbery versus 2

Robbery charges will be filed today before the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office against a teenager and his group's alleged leader who were nabbed by the police last week for robbing a taxi driver in the city.

The charges will be filed against Melencio Arnon, “alias Dagul”, 18, of Purok Lubi in Brgy. 3 and George Salunatin, “alias Redtide”, 24, of Purok Mambuloc in Brgy. 10, Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Lester Leada said yesterday.

Arnon was arrested along with a 16-year-old, whose name is being withheld, Thursday, three hours after they robbed Vinger Tan, 45, of Purok Kabugwason in Brgy. Mansilingan.

Salunatin was arrested next day in a follow-up operation conducted by Police Station 2 personnel, police records showed.

Leada said they are not filing charges against the 16-year-old boy as he had no direct participation in robbing Tan and was only accompanying Arnon that time. He said they were also not able to link him with other snatching and robbery incidents in the area of Station 2.to charges against the suspects, aside from Tan, Leada told the DAILY STAR.

Investigation also showed that the police had a hard time arresting the suspects as their operations were done in an “off and on” basis.*APN
