The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Region 6 Office expects to finish recalibrating and resealing the meters of taxi vehicles in the region in the next two to three weeks, a government press release said.
LTFRB Regional Director Romulo Bernardes said they already have worked on about 1,000 taxi units in this city where some 1,300 of these vehicles are operating.
Bernardes said recalibrating is also ongoing in Bacolod City which has around 800 taxi units in operation and in Roxas City, Capiz where a fleet of taxis is also operating.
He also assured the public that they are also seeing to it that the taxi meters are working properly for the benefit of passengers.
The recalibration and resealing of taxi meters started following the recent upward adjustment in taxi fare rate to a P40 flagdown rate (from P30) and P3.50 (from P2.50) for every succeeding 300-meter distance covered, as approved by the LTFRB Board, the press release said.*
