PNP dismisses
AWOL policeman

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Police Regional Office 6 Director, Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, Monday signed the dismissal order of one of the policemen accused in the kidnapping and murder of a former barangay captain and two maritime instructors in Bacolod City about eight years ago.

Querol yesterday told the DAILY STAR that Police Officer 2 Dennis Belandres, previously assigned at the Bacolod City Police Office, has been absent without leave for several years now.

Belandres, Police Officers 2 Allen Hulleza, Ruel Villacanas and Ronald Cimatu, Senior Police Officers 2 Freddie Natividad, Senior Police Officer 1 Nelson Grijaldo, Senior Inspectors Clarence Dongail, Jonathan Lorilla, Jimmy Fortaleza and Bonifer Gotas, were charged for the death of Brgy. Pahanocoy Captain Eluterio Salabas and maritime instructors Maximo Lomoljo, and Ricardo Suganob in August 2003.

Other accused are former Bacolod City Police Office chiefs Vicente Ponteras and George Bajelot and several other civilians.

Only Dongail, Natividad and Fortaleza are in police custody, while Belandres and his other co-accused remain at large.

Belandres and Villacanas were also tagged in the fatal shooting of a man in Hacienda Bilbao, Brgy. Punta Mesa, Manapla, in May 2007.*APN
