Capitol reinstates
dismissed doc

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Dr. Vicente Ituriaga Jr. has been reinstated at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Negros Occidental, in compliance with an order of the Civil Service Commission, Provincial Legal Officer Jose Ma. Valencia said yesterday.

Ituriaga had been dismissed from the service but the CSC ordered his reinstatement prompting Valenica to issue a return to work order effective immediately.

But Valencia said the provincial government has a pending appeal before the Court of Appeals on the CSC order for Ituriaga’s reinstatement.

According to the CSC rules its decisions are executory even pending appeal, he said.

The order for the reinstatement of Ituriaga was based on technicality, because the committee composed of doctors that investigated him was not able to promulgate its decision within the prescribed period, Valencia said.

The provincial government is also inquiring from the Commission on Audit whether it can pay Ituriaga’s back wages, while its appeal on the CSC ruling is pending before the CA, he added.*CPG
