The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry has affirmed its support for the redistricting of the Lone District of the City of Bacolod into two Legislative Districts, at the MBCCI special meeting yesterday, a press release from the Bacolod government said.
The MBCCI explained in a resolution that Bacolod is recognized as one of the growth centers of the country expected to help the national government in accelerating economic growth and development in the countryside, the press release said.
The city, thus, has to enhance the capacity and capability of Bacoleños and continuously upgrade its infrastructure, it added.

for improved livestock services
The Provincial Veterinary Office of Negros Occidental has started to use the Philippine Animal Health Information System, a computer-based tool to process and store electronic data on animal health information management, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena said yesterday.
The Bureau of Animal Industry designed Phil-AHIS to ensure proper disease management through prevention strategies and information campaigns, Decena said.
All animal management projects like immunization, check ups, and deworming are recorded in the database. This will also monitor people in the field who conduct these activities. From there, the regional office and the BAI can trace the progress of each province throughout the country, he said.
‘Quality seeds making
an emerging industry’
The Negros Occidental Accredited Seed Producers Cooperative had supplied 41,930 bags of certified quality seeds for 2010 in Negros Occidental and its neighboring provinces, NOASEPCO treasurer Bikee Cabaluna said yesterday.
Dina Genzola, training coordinator of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, said there is a potential industry in marketing quality seed production for higher yield.
NOASEPCO is also the partner-organization of the provincial government in the rice self sufficiency and food security agenda of Gov. Alfredo Marañon, she added.
