The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry has affirmed its support for the redistricting of the Lone District of the City of Bacolod into two Legislative Districts, at the MBCCI special meeting yesterday, a press release from the Bacolod government said.
The MBCCI explained in a resolution that Bacolod is recognized as one of the growth centers of the country expected to help the national government in accelerating economic growth and development in the countryside, the press release said.
The city, thus, has to enhance the capacity and capability of Bacoleños and continuously upgrade its infrastructure, it added.
With two Legislative Districts in the city, each representative will be able to focus in addressing the concerns of the right number of constituents of a smaller geographical area.
Bacolod will thus have an additional representation in the House of Representatives, double its share in national developmental projects and will have more funds channeled through legislative districts, the press release said.
Additional development projects and funds will stimulate higher economic growth that will give significant benefits to the business sector of the city resulting to a better capability to create more jobs for local residents.
The MBCCI resolution was signed by the MBCCI secretary, Irving Villasor, attested by MBCCI president Frank Carbon, the press release said.*
