Phoenix prevails in TKP

Phoenix lubricants bounced back from a big loss to notch its first win at the expense of Crave Burger, 89-79, while Johann Kendrick- Kuppa earned its second win by routing Eversure/Jar Marketing, 104-82.

RB Chua fired 17 points and Mark Coo added 11 markers to kick off Phoenix’s offense for a 31-15 first quarter advantage.

But Crave Burger, banking on a balanced offense, climbed back to get the next two quarters and take a 66-64 lead led by Monroe Chua, who scored 10 points, while Toffel Tan, Joseph Tiu and Ren Ren Lacson backed him up.

The effort proved to be not enough for the Burger guys as they failed to match-up well with Phoenix’s speed and running game led by the trio of RB Chua, Mark Coo and Kenderson Hao

Chua delivered a game-high  32 points, backstopped by Hao and Coo with 20 and 17 points, respectively.

Toffel Tan led Crave with 14 points, Jeremy Coo added 13, Lacson and Monroe Chua contributed 10 points each , Joseph Tiu shot 9, and Jimmy Yap made 6 points.

In the second game Bontigao, Jason Ong  and Fr. Clarence conspired for 16 points to give JK-Kuppa a 26-20 first quarter lead, even as Joshua Chua and Glenn Yee hit two triples each for Eversure.

Low post threat Chris Javelosa for Eversure was double teamed in the second quarter, but still managed to score 12 points, but  Ryan  Manaloto scored 16 to give Kuppa a big lift and extend the lead to 51-42.

After Stephen Tan nailed five straight points to give JK a 56-46 third quarter lead, Eversure got their outside game going with Joshua Chua making back-to-back triples and Ryan Tumbagahan scoring nine points as he quarterbacked Eversure for a five-point lead.

Arvin Gustilo and Stanley Bontigao joined hands to give Kuppa a  71-70 lead at the close of the quarter.

In the payoff period, JK controlled the rebounds and limited the outside production of Eversure, while former USLS stinger Daniel Chiu was a deadshot as he made 3 of 4 triples to finish with 11 points in the quarter, with Bontigao and Ariel Jimenez hitting a combined 12 points.

Bontigao paced JKKuppa with 18 points while Chris Javelosa  led Eversure, also with 18 points.*NAB
