Phoenix prevails in TKP

Phoenix lubricants bounced back from a big loss to notch its first win at the expense of Crave Burger, 89-79, while Johann Kendrick- Kuppa earned its second win by routing Eversure/Jar Marketing, 104-82.

RB Chua fired 17 points and Mark Coo added 11 markers to kick off Phoenix’s offense for a 31-15 first quarter advantage.

But Crave Burger, banking on a balanced offense, climbed back to get the next two quarters and take a 66-64 lead led by Monroe Chua, who scored 10 points, while Toffel Tan, Joseph Tiu and Ren Ren Lacson backed him up.

P3M for Azkals from PNoy

While he was not able to witness the Azkals’ victory against Mongolia in last night’s AFC Challenge Cup qualifier, President Benigno Aquino released P3 million from his Social Fund for the organizational needs of the match, Philippine Football Federation president Mariano Araneta Jr. said.

Expressing their appreciation for the funds, the PFF chief it has certainly inspired the players to play their best in front of their countrymen.

The victory of the Azkals, he said, was a belated present for the President who celebrated his 51st birthday Tuesday.

A group of teenagers among the jubilant crowd at the Panaad Sport Stadium last night shouted.

Jeremy, 17, an out-of-school youth said that Azkals made all Filipinos proud and more people will be watching and supporting them. He said even if he had to watch the game from outside the stadium, it does not matter as long as he got to see them play even from afar.
