A man wanted for drug charges in Bacolod City was arrested while attending a hearing at the Iloilo City Hall of Justice Monday, while a tricycle driver tagged as an accomplice in stabbing a man in Brgy. Handumanan was also arrested at his residence in the barangay on the same day.
Freddie La Vega, 35, of Purok Bakyas in Brgy, Mansilingan, and Louie Polisitico Bruce, 39, of St. Ezekiel, Barangay Handumanan, were presented to Bacolod City Police officer-in-charge, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Ramon Senoro of Police Station 5 said they arrested La Vega at the Iloilo Hall of Justice at about 10:30 a.m. while he was attending the hearing of his theft case.
La Vega had an arrest warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 52 Judge Anastacio Rufon, who set his bail at P120,000, Senoro said.
La Vega is also involved in series of robbery, snatching and “salisi” theft incidents in Bacolod and in Iloilo cities, he added.
Meanwhile, Station 10 chief, Insp. Carmelo Nermal, said Bruce was arrested at about 2 a.m. at his residence when he and and an “alias Dugong”, who evaded arrest, were tagged in the stabbing of Freddal Bolinas, 22, also of St. Ezekiel Moreno Sunday.
Witnesses Jemuhel Cañete, 24, and Timothy John Belleza, 25, both of St. Ezekiel Moreno said “alias Dugong” suddenly stabbed Bolinas in the chest and the back, boarded the tricycle of Bruce, and fled.
Bolinas was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he is now confined.
Bruce denied the accusations against him, claiming that he was surprised when the policemen arrested him at his residence.
Nermal said they are set to file frustrated murder charges against Bruce and “alias Dugong”.*APN
