CCTVs to fight crime
in Bacolod planned

Bacolod City Police officer-in-charge, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, yesterday said he is planning to put up close circuit television cameras at strategic and crime prone areas in the city.

De la Paz said that this will speed up their response time because their command center, which will be placed at the Operations Branch of BCPO, can monitor if there are crimes in progress.

He also said that the CCTVs will aide the police investigators in a fast resolution of the cases because the suspects could be easily detected and identified.

A  BCPO employee will be trained on how to man the command center so he or she could easily relay crimes in progress to the Public Safety Management Company or to the policemen on motorcycles, de la Paz said.

The proposal to  put up CCTVs have already been presented to Police Regional office-6 Director Chief Supt. Cepriano Querol, who assured  that he will look for funds to finance the plan, de la Paz added.

It is high time Bacolod has CCTVs as most highly urbanized cities in the country like Cebu, Davao and Manila already have them, de la Paz said.

Meanwhile, PRO-6 Deputy Director for Operations, Senior Supt. Antonio Viernes, lauded de la Paz for his anti-crime efforts in Bacolod.

Viernes said that BCPO has already surpassed other police units in Western Visayas in accomplishments.*APN
