The Bacolod City government has allocated P1.5 million for the enhancement of the Special Weapons and Tactics team of the Bacolod City Police Office for better crisis management capability, Councilor Al Victor Espino yesterday said.
Espino, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod finance and appropriations committee, said P1 million will be used for the procurement of the SWAT gear while P500,000 will be for the training of the personnel.
The budget is part of the P1.2 billion annual appropriation fund that the city council has approved, Espino said.
The city government is now waiting for the inventory of the gear and equipment that the BCPO needs to purchase and the schedule of the SWAT personnel’s training so the fund can be released, Espino added.
BCPO officer-in-charge, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said that he is grateful for the support that the city government is extending as it will be a big help for the SWAT team.
De la Paz said that they are going to submit their recommendation for the additional SWAT gear they need to procure to the city council so the budget can be released soon.*APN
