PFF thanks mayor
for football hosting

President Mariano Araneta, Jr., of the Philippine Football Federation, expressed his sincere gratitude to Bacolod Evelio Leonardia for his support in the recent hosting of the Philippines-Mongolia AFC qualifying football match at the Panaad Sports Stadium in Bacolod.

Araneta, in a letter Mayor Leonardia, pointed out that the Asian Football Confederation wishes to consider the event as a resounding success, significantly exceeding expectations from both the city and AFC, a Bacolod City Hall press release said.

Araneta also acknowledged what he described as “the considerable amount of football experience,” of the city and wished to herald to the local football community the significant contributions of the mayor, not only for the just-ended event, but for Philippine football.

Araneta also expressed hope that Bacolod will remain as a partner in the development of football in the country, the press release added.*
