The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office is set to file charges of grave misconduct against a policeman, who was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation that also yielded a cache of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.

Provincial police director, Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, said the administrative case against PO2 Victorio Rizaldo, who is assigned in Bayawan City, will be filed with the summary officer of the Philippine National Police Regional Office 7 in Cebu City.

Rizaldo was disarmed and subjected to random drug testing his arrest last week in a drug buy-bust operation in Bayawan City.

If Rizaldo is found guilty of illegal drug use in the criminal charges filed against him, he will face stiff administrative sanctions, such as dismissal from the PNP service, said Lawas.

The Task Force Kasaligan, a composite team of operatives from the PNP, the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, had filed separate charges against Rizaldo for illegal selling and illegal possession of prohibited drugs, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and illegal possession of explosives.

Also named in the charge sheets were Florante Bayabado Taburada and Renwil Cadungog, a member of the Bayawan City police auxiliary unit.

All three suspects are now detained at the Bayawan City PNP detention cell pending preliminary investigation at the city prosecutor’s office.*JFP
