Pimp, sex worker
nabbed for theft

An alleged pimp and a female commercial sex worker were arrested by Station 1 policemen led by Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche at the Bacolod City downtown area Saturday, after she allegedly stole cash and a cellular phone.

Arrested was alleged pimp  Dennix Noble, 30, of Purok Mambulok in Brgy. 12, and the 23-year-old commercial sex worker from Purok Cagaycay in Brgy. 2, Bacolod, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR.

They were presented to Bacolod City Police officer-in-charge, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, Saturday.

The complainant, 21, who requested anonymity, told the police that he and his friend were walking along Rizal-Gatuslao streets at about 3 a.m. Saturday, when Noble and the girl approached him. He added that the girl caressed him and when they left, he noticed that his cellular phone and his P3,000 were gone, and he reported the incident to Police Station 1.

Police Officer 3 Rene Labating and his companions looked for Noble and arrested him near the public plaza, and he helped them look for the girl, and they also arrested her.

The girl denied the claims of the complainant, and claimed that she only got P400 and did not steal any cellular phone. She, however, admitted that she had taken items owned by her customers before, as their payment was too meager and she has three kids to feed. Noble said he has no idea about the operations of the girl.

De la Paz said he will order the clearing of the public plaza where the commercial sex workers usually stay, so that no similar incidents will happen there.*APN

Negotiation for
gunman’s surrender on

Negotiations are still underway for the surrender of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a leader of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade in Manapla, Negros Occidental, two weeks ago.

Senior Inspector Edencio Gregorio, Manapla police chief, said the suspect, identified as Nilo Besonia, is now in hiding.

RPA-ABB leader Romelie Caniete, alias “Ka Ryan”, 32,  succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds,  including a fatal one in the head, when he was allegedly shot  by Besonia, who intruded  into his residence on Feb. 10 at Hacienda Guinolayan, Brgy. Tortosa, Manapla.

Gregorio said he has already established  contact with the suspect, and is willing to provide him the necessary security, as soon as he surfaces and surrenders himself to the police.

The shooting incident also led to the injury of Nenita Besonia, mother of the suspect, who was hit in the crossfire.

Investigations of the Manapla police showed that the shooting was triggered by old grudges.  Several days before the incident, Besonia filed a complaint for harassment against Caniete at the Manapla police station.

Gregorio said they have secured an affidavit of the witness  for the filing of homicide charges against the gunman who at large.

Instead of a murder charge, he said, the criminal complaint to be filed against Besonia should be homicide, since there was  provocation on the part of the victim, who was armed with a .45 caliber pistol.

Gregorio, however, said the .45 caliber pistol of Caniete could no longer be found, when responding policemen arrived at the crime scene.

Investigations of the Manapla police also showed that the armed Caniete went to the house of Besonia, and threatened him with a gun.

Besonia went into his room, got his gun and shot Caniete. During the shooting,   Besonia’s mother was hit in the crossfire,  Gregorio said.

Police investigators recovered 13 empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene. *GPB
