Fire damages Gamboa house

Fire damaged a portion of the residence of former Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. last night and caused at least P100,000 in damage to properties.

The BFP received a call at about 7:05 p.m. last night from Vernie Molo, Gamboa’s neighbor, informing them that the residence of the former city official at C.L. Montelibano drive in Brgy. Villamonte was on fire, arson investigator Fire Officer 3 Joey Michael Victoriano said.

Five fire trucks from the BFP were sent to the area and were assisted by those from the Amity and Filipino-Chinese chamber fire volunteers, Victoriano added.

Investigation showed that the fire, suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, originated at the maid’s quarters in the second floor.

Gamboa said they were eating dinner at the ground floor when they saw the fire in progress. He said the fire rapidly spread because the second floor is being renovated.

Gamboa, who was with his wife, daughter and three house helpers when the incident happened, added that no one was hurt as they were able to leave the house immediately.

The fire was put out at about 8:05 p.m. and had reached first alarm status, the BFP reported.*APN
