NegOr needs
more teachers

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Gov. Roel Degamo yesterday said he will  follow up the promised allocation of 50 teacher items for Negros Oriental by the Department of Education

The remaining teacher items will fill up the vacant classrooms constructed under the Basta NegOr Education 104 program.

Negros Oriental Division Superintendent Ma. Milagros Velez reported during the school board meeting recently that DepEd still has to fulfill its pledge to provide the teacher items for Negros Oriental.

The Basta NegOr 104 was a program of the late Governor Emilio Macias II  to solve the lack of classrooms, especially in the hinterland barangays.

The  DepEd promised the provincial government  that it would  provide the teacher items for every classroom  it constructed.

A total of 140 classrooms were completed with comfort rooms and wash areas under the Basta NegOr Education 104 program.

Velez said she hopes the teacher items will be released soon so that they can decongest the number of students in some schools in the province.*MA
