PARCCOM election
slated on March 25

The Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental will   elect the Sectoral Representatives for the Provincial Agrarian Reform Coordinating Committee  at the DAR  Provincial Office, Bacolod City, a press release from the DAR said. 

This is accordance with Section 44, of RA 6657 or CARP, to coordinate and monitor agrarian reform implementation in the provincial level,  and  to provide information to the Presidential Agrarian Reform Council  guidelines on CARP and the progress of its implementation.

PARCCOM is composed of the chairman who is  appointed by the President. There are also ex-officio members composed of the DAR – Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer,  DENR – Provincial environment and Natural Resources Officer, DA-Provincial Agriculturist, and a   Land Back of the Philippines representative.

Subject for election are the sectoral representatives from the private sectors  including farmers organization, agricultural  cooperative, non-government organization, and landowners’ representative for  a principal crop,  landowners’ representative for other crops, farmers/farmworkers  representative for a principal crop,  farmers/farmworkers representatives for other crops, and  a representative from the cultural community, the press release said.

Interested parties or groups should contact  their respective DAR Municipal Offices or  the  DAR Provincial Office  through  Tel. no. 435-1680 and look for CARPO Ronald Gareza or the PARCCOM secretariat for more details. 

The deadline for submission of applications  or nominations  for chairmanship is on March 2, 2011 and for the sectoral representatives is on March 11, 2011, the press release said.*
