The basketball Aspirants Team of Bacolod Tay Tung High School opened its bid for the crown in NOPSSCE with back-to-back victories against Tangub Christian Academy, 59-33, and Don Bosco Technical Institute of Victorias, 60-56, at the West Negros University Gym over the weekend.

While it was a lopsided match right from the start against the TCA in their Saturday encounter, the young Blue Dragons of coach Bobby Tee had a difficult time notching a win against DBTI the next day.

Against TCA, the Tay Tung boys registered a double digit margin in the early minutes of the game, leading as much as 10 points in the first quarter at 17-7, before taking the half at 39-21.

DBTI to host Boscolympics

Athletes from 10 Salesian schools in the country will converged at the Don Bosco Technical Institute-Victorias on January 17-21 for the 2011 National Boscolympics.

Expected to join the competition among the Salesian schools are 800 athletes who will vie for top honors in basketball, football, volleyball, chess, table tennis and badminton.

Participating schools are Don Bosco Makati, Mandaluyong, Tarlac, Pampanga, Canlubang, Sta. Rosa, Cebu, Dumaguete and host DBTI-Victorias with the special participation of Don Bosco-Guam.

B-Meg La Carlota tops
Sinulog bootfest

B-Meg La Carlota blanked Bago City Football Club, 4-0, to capture the title in the Under-14 Sinulog 2011 7-a-Side Football Festival at the Kabankalan City football field.

Avenging their loss in the Under-14 event, the Bagoeños edged Fellowship Baptist Colelge, 3-2, in the final match of the Under-17 category, while Himamaylan FC grabbed the championship in Men’s Open.

Settling for second runner-up honor in Under-14 was Erams-Kabankalan City, while while Himamaylan City-A FC also finished in third place in the Under-17 division.
