Contractor’s bodyguard
faces gun raps

The bodyguard of a businessman and contractor is now facing charges for illegal possession of firearms after he accidentally shot and injured a tricycle driver during an alleged rumble in front of a bar at Lacson Street, Bacolod City, yesterday.

Ferdinand Langrio, 45, of Filipina Baybay in Brgy. Zone 7 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, surrendered immediately to the police after the incident, Station 3 chief, Insp. Jose Mulleta said.

Langrio, who is detained at Police Station 3, declined to give statements to the media.

Raul Panolino, 35, of Purok Magbinuligay in Brgy. Bata said he was on board his tricycle at about 2 a.m. when he saw Langrio firing his gun when he passed the area in front of 722 Metropolis Tours at Lacson Street.

Panolino said he then realized that he had been hit by a bullet on his left shoulder. He was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Aside from Panolino, Steve Christian Pacheco and Hanson Pacheco, both 28 and residents of Homesite Subdivision also claimed that Langrio mauled them.

But the teenager son of Langrio’s employer told the police that bodyguard only pacified the Pachecos who were mauling him when the two ganged up on Langrio, who sustained an injury on his left eye.

Mulleta said the complainants and Langrio have already reached a settlement. The illegal possession of firearm charges against the bodyguard will push through, however.*APN
