Jr. NBA announces
training schedule

Jr. NBA, the premier youth development program of the National Basketball Association has released its schedule and calendar of activities for its Free Coaching Seminar and School Clinic at St. John’s Institute, Bacolod City.

On January 21, 2011 Jr. NBA will be conducting a free coaching seminar with American coach Frank Lopez from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration starts at 7:30 p.m. at the SJI Audio Visual Center with free coaching kits and certificates will be given out  to the participants.

Lopez, a camp head of the NBA, has served as camp director for basketball camps of the NBA All-Star Game, Dallas Mavericks, Orlando Magic and New Jersey Nets.

On January 22 and 23, four time slots for the Basketball Clinic for boys and girls, 10 to 14 years old, have been scheduled.

Registration for the first time slot will start at 7:30 a.m. followed by the skills training and partner activities from 9 a.m. up to 12 noon.

Afternoon sessions will start at 12:30 p.m. with the registration and the training from 2 p.m. up to 4 p.m.

The local Jr. NBA partner had already informed most of the mayors of the cities and towns about the schedule, and met with the representatives of the Department of Education to tap their support and participation to the event.

The organizers are also encouraging the LGUs and other interested parties to register early to secure priority slots.

As of press time, around 400 participants for the school clinic and 110 registrants for the coaches seminar have confirmed their participation with Talisay City reserving 31 coaching slots.
