Task force to seal
off Barangay 2

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The Bacolod City Police Office Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Group will seal off Barangay 2 starting today to curb any further illegal drugs operations in the area, City Police Director Senior Supt. Celestino Guara said yesterday.

Guara said they also expect to seal off Barangays 1 and 22, which are also considered as seriously affected by illegal drugs.

During his visit in Bacolod City last month, Police Regional Office-6 Director Chief Supt. Cepriano Querol said that there is a need to seal off these barangays because at least two percent of their population are drug users and pushers.

Guara said the officials of Brgy. 2 and Anti-Illegal Drugs Assistant task force leader Chief Insp, Noel Polines, already met yesterday and discussed the sealing-off operation.

He, however, said that they could not implement the sealing-off operations in Barangays 1 and 22 yet as the task force has only at least 20 personnel.

Guara said he is hoping for additional policemen for the Anti-illegal drugs Task Force.

Polines said operatives of the Task Force will be on duty 24 hours to make sure that no illegal drugs will be transported in and outside of Barangay 2.

He also said they are validating the report of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency that there are policemen under close surveillance on suspicion that they are illegal drug users.

Polines also assured that their jobs will not overlap with that of PDEA and of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group of BCPO.*APN
