‘8-year-old raped by guest’
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A guest at a birthday party in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, was arrested at about 8 p.m. Sunday after he allegedly raped the 8-year-old granddaughter of the host, Station 8 commander, Chief Insp. Danilo Francisco said yesterday.

The suspect, 27, whose name the police withheld, sustained injuries when the bystanders mauled him.

The 3-year-old cousin of the victim claimed that they were walking at the bridge near their residence when the suspect blocked their way and choked her cousin, threatened and brought her to his house, where the alleged rape happened.

She added that the suspect sent them home after the incident and told them not to tell anyone what happened.

The grandmother of the victim told ABS-CBN that the suspect, who is their neighbor, had come from their house and waited for her granddaughters at the bridge.

She said they will file rape charges against the suspect, who is now detained at Police Station 8.

The suspect has vehemently denied the allegations. His family also claimed that the relatives of the victim mauled him.

The case has been referred to the Bacolod City Police Office Women and Children’s Complaints Desk.*APN
