NPC to nominate
BM replacement

BY MARICAR ARANAS

The Nationalist People’s Coalition will soon nominate a replacement for the post vacated by Board Member Apolinario Arnaiz Jr. (Neg. Or., 2nd District) who is now vice governor of Negros Oriental.

Rep. George Arnaiz (Neg. Or., 2nd District) said that, as the senior member of the NPC in Negros Oriental, he will meet with all the members of the party after the burial of the late Gov. Agustin Perdices.

He said there are lots of potential nominees who can be good members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, but the party has to agree on who will be nominated.

Arnaiz said the only qualifications is that for the nominee should be young and filled with brilliant ideas as a leader.

The NPC will nominate who will assume the vacated post at the SP created by now Vice Gov. Arnaiz, a member of the NPC, as under the Local Government Code of 1991, the replacement must be a member, and be nominated by the same party that created the vacancy.

There are now two vacant positions at the SP from the second and third district of the province. The first was created by now Governor Degamo.

Provincial election officer Eddie Aba said until now they have not received confirmation from President Benigno Aquino III on the nomination of incumbent Dauin Vice Mayor Rodrigo Alanano.

Aba said there will be no vacuum in the position, because the SP will still have a quorum, even with the vacancy of two posts.*MA
