6 persons apprehended
in ‘Operation Roulette’
Six persons were apprehended by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Bacolod City and personnel of Police Station 1 Monday at the City’s Central Market and at Cuadra Street, Monday.
Arrested were Gabrieleto Salang, 43, of Purok Kingfisher in Brgy. 16; Noel Monteverde, 42, of Purok Rosal in Brgy. Taculing; Ofelia Sanchez, 41, of Zone 8 in Brgy. Handumanan; and Nestor Macaspac, 45.
Also arrested were Eduardo Deocampo, 57, of Purok Planeta in Brgy. Taculing amd Rolando Estill, 18, of Phase 3 in Brgy. Handumanan.
Regional Director Senior Supt. Benedicto Gorospe of CIDG said Salang, Monteverde, Sanchez and Macaspac were apprehended at about 6:30 p.m. at the Bacolod Central Market.
Gorospe said tally sheets, tipsters with the codename “Speed” and P1,505 in bet money were recovered from them during their arrest.
Police Officer 2 Joshua Barile and Police Officer 1 Rolly Jardinico also reported the arrest of Deocampo and Estill at Cuadra Street at about 6 p.m. Sunday.
Barile and Jardinico said they recovered several gambling paraphernalia from those arrested.*APN
48 Bacolod cops
The 48 newly promoted personnel of the Bacolod City Police Office were congratulated by BCPO director, Senior Supt. Celestino Guara Jr., during the pinning of insignias rites, recently.
Guara reiterated to the troops the directive of the Chief PNP, Director General Raul Bacalzo, that PNP personnel should refrain from doing illegal activities, a BCPO press release said.
“It’s a morale booster for the troops for they’ll be receiving an increase in their base pay and other incentives,” Guara said.
The promotions took effect on December 31, 2010 pursuant to Section 33 of Republic Act 8551, the press release added.*
An employee of a review center sought police help Monday claiming that a man held him up and took his cellular phone and wallet at Cottage Road, Bacolod City, at about 7 p.m. Monday.
Riegell Manaog, 23, of Purok Bolinao in Brgy. 17 Bacolod and employed by Inress Review Center said he was walking at Cottage Road when the suspect blocked his way, threatened him with a knife, and took his cellular phone valued at P6,400 and wallet that contained P1,500 and personal documents, then fled.
A woman also reported that suspected pickpockets took her wallet which contained P21,700 in cash from her bag while she was on a passenger jeepney Sunday in Bacolod City.
Jane Monserate, 34, of Brgy. Zone 12 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental said she discovered her wallet missing after she alighted from the jeep at B.S. Aquino Drive at about 5:30 p.m.
Monserate said she believes that her wallet was taken by one of her fellow passengers.*APN
