RP-Bacolod team joins
Tchoukball tilt in Davao

Headed by coach Raymund Jamelo, Philippine Tchoukball Federation Vice President for Visayas, 46 delegates from Bacolod City will be competing in the 1st Philippine Open Tchoukball Championships set on January 27-30 at the Davao City Recreation Center.

The group from Bacolod will compete against teams from Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and host Davao in the three-day tournament.

Jamelo said the Bacolod teams will see action in the Men’s Category and the Juniors Under 18 Category.

After getting their first international exposure in Singapore July last year, Jamelo said their team have been practicing regularly and will be giving their best in the Davao tournament.

The 1st Philippine Open Tchoukball Championships is sanctioned by the Philippine Tchoukball Federation under PTF President Pastor Gary V. Visitacion.

Expected to witness the games are Federacion Internationale de Tchoukball officials headed by president Chris Huang, deputy general secretary Jeff Ang, Taiwan coach Daisy Chu, and FITB secretary Chuan Su.

Philippine Sports Commission chairman Ricardo “Richie” Garcia and Philippine Olympic Committee general secretary Steve Hontiveros are also invited to attend the event.

PTF president Pastor Gary Visitacion said it is an honor for the Philippines to host the competition and they are looking forward to seeing worldclass tchoukballers from Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia playing against the local teams.

The tournament will also serve as the barometer of the readiness of the Philippines to host the 5th Asia Pacific Tchoukball Championship on 2012, which will draw the participation of at least 600 players from 18 countries, Visitacion said.*NAB
