Guv, solons discuss
one island region

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon last night met with congressmen of Negros Oriental in Dumaguete City to discuss the refiling of a bill creating a one-island region for Negros.

Under the proposal, Negros Occidental and Oriental will compose one region.

Marañon said he discussed the matter with Negros Oriental Reps. George Arnaiz and Henry Pryde Teves.

The governor, along with Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, were in Dumaguete City yesterday for the funeral of Negros Oriental Gov. Agustin Perdices.

Marañon said he will also discuss joint projects in agriculture and tourism with the new Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

Today the governor is also set to meet with sugar leaders in Negros Occidental to discuss plans for the future of the country’s sugar industry.*CPG
