Strangled woman found
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The body of a woman believed strangled to death, and already in an advanced state of decomposition, was found Monday at a harvested sugarcane field in La Castellana, Negros Occidental, police said.

Police Inspector Romeo Vargas yesterday said a sandal strap was tied around the neck of the victim, when she was found by a cane cutter at Hacienda Canlaon 2, Brgy. Sag-ang, La Castellana.

Initial examinations by Dr. Nenita Rodriguez-Sol, Municipal Health Officer of La Castellana, on the body indicated that she may had been killed seven days ago.

La Castellana recovered female and male garments, pedal short pants and a pair of sandals.

Vargas said they cannot ascertain yet if the victim had also been molested as her body, was in an advanced state of decomposition.

He described the victim to be in her late 20s, having curly hair, fair complexion and about 5 feet and 2 inches in height.

Investigations by the La Castellana police also indicated that no missing person had been reported in the town. However, a person was picked up by the police for investigations yesterday, Vargas said.

He added that they are pursuing another lead, which may help in identifying the victim.

Vargas also said they are filing parricide charges today against a chainsaw operator, who allegedly strangled to death his wife in Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, last week.

He said he received reports that the suspect, identified as Alejandro Pior, 36, can no longer be found in La Castellana.

Jealousy allegedly drove Pior to strangle his wife, Menchu, to death, police investigations also showed.

In a letter to the family of his wife that was found in the “bra” of the victim during an autopsy at a funeral parlor, Alejandro asked for forgiveness for what he did to her.

Vargas said they are also filing murder charges against Rene John Tacuyo and Rio Jara, for the death of Rey Baladhay and injuries of his text mate, on Jan. 7, also in La Castellana.

Tacuyo and Rio allegedly stabbed to death Baladhay, 16, who was on a date with a 16-year-old, at the Tree House restaurant in the town.

They are now detained at the La Castellana police jail.*GPB
