Asian Games’ medalists
lead sports awardees’ list

Year 2010 proved to be a remarkable year for boxing, not only because of world icon and Filipino boxing pride Manny Pacquiao, but also because of Rey Saludar, who brought home a gold medal from Guangzhou, China during the 2010 Asian Games.

Saludar, along with bowler Biboy Rivera and billiard king Dennis Orcollo went to war in the Asian Games and accounted for the only three gold medals the country got at the end of the November 12-28 meet.

Francisco 'Django' Bustamante, meanwhile, finally nailed the title that has long eluded him, as the world 9-ball king with his triumph in Doha, Qatar.

Negrenses who will trooped to Victorias on Jan. 22 will be seeing the 29-year-old native of San Antonio Zambales, whose versatile performance helped San Miguel booked a finals’ berth.

Washington posted averages of 12 points, 13 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 blocked shots in the semifinals, earning him not only the PBA Player of the week award but also the respect of the Beermen fans.
