The Kilusang Mayo Uno Negros called on the management of Bacolod Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital to reinstate its terminated employees and pay all their benefits as mandated by law, a KMU press release said.
Ronald Ian Evidente of KMU said they are in solidarity with the hospital workers’ union in demanding their return to work and that their replacement of regular workers with contractual employees will not justify their redundancy but a clear violation of workers’ freedom of association and right to security of tenure.
Thirty-one employees of the hospital have been terminated by the hospital management. Those affected were 14 janitors and 17 medical orderlies that include seven officers of the union, the KMU said.
Evidente said workers’ unions and Negrenses must condemn the actions of the BOLMSH in terminating the workers on the eve of the New Year’s Day, the KMU press release added.*
