2 murder suspects
A man was arrested by operatives of the 3rd Maneuver Platoon of the Negros Occidental Provincial Public Safety Company led by Insp. Hector Balbon, by virtue of a warrant of arrest for attempted murder Monday evening in Silay City.
Arrested was Jonathan Mariano, 40, of Hda. Mambigo, Barangay E. Lopez in Silay City, a Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office press release said.
The suspect failed to secure the P120,000 bail for his temporary freedom, and he is still at the Silay police station detention cell.
Meanwhile, a suspect for frustrated murder was caught by the Talisay policemen yesterday morning, the press release said.
Supt. Thomas Joseph Martir, city chief of police, identified the suspect as Joeann Caniccula, of Bangga Patyo, Barangay Zone 10 in Talisay.
The warrant of arrest against Caniccula was issued by Judge George Patriarca of the Regional Trial Court Branch 46, Bacolod City, dated October 20, 2010, the press release said.
Caniccula has a bail bond of P200,000 and she failed to avail it, the press release added.*
readied vs. 3
Homicide charges are being readied against a teenager and his two companions for allegedly killing a trisikad driver in Brgy. 3, Bacolod City Sunday, Station 2 commander, Chief Insp. Noel Polines said yesterday.
Polines said Ranington Masola, 19, Rodolfo Masola, 22, both of Purok Lubi, and Jerry Emilla, 22, of Purok Camunsil, all in Brgy. 3, were still at large as of yesterday.
Their other companion, Jason Baron, 21, of Purok Camunsil who is employed at the Bacolod City Legal Office was accompanied by Cesar Beloria when he surrendered to Police Station 2 Monday, several hours after the killing of Robecco Concepcion, 34, of Purok Lubi.
Initial investigation conducted by Police Officer 2 Robert Toreno showed that Concepcion was walking at the alley of Purok Lubi when he accidentally bumped into one of the suspects that led to the mauling, until one of the men stabbed Conception the chest.
Concepcion died on the way to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, police records showed.
Baron told the police on Tuesday that he and his companions went to a store in Purok Lubi to buy cigarets, when Ramington bumped into the victim. He added that he pacified Ramington and their two other companions when they mauled Concepcion.
Polines said they received information that Ramington has fled to Iloilo, while Rodolfo and Emilla are still in Bacolod City. He also said that Concepcion’s remains are now at his residence in Purok Lubi.*APN
Two men arrested
for jai-alai operation
The Bacolod City Police Office Vice Control Section arrested two men in Purok Uno in Sitio Magsungay, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City for alleged illegal jai-alai operations Tuesday night.
VCS team leader Senior Police Officer 1 George Bejemino yesterday identified those arrested as Rene Vezera, 43, of Sitio Magsungay, and Joel Ostan, 27, of Rodriguez-Baybay, Bacolod.
Bejemino and his companions seized tally sheets with number combinations written on them, two ballpens, and P70 in bet money from the two during their arrest.
He added that they also confiscated Ostan’s Honda Wave motorcycle with no plate number, as it is believed to be used in delivering tally sheets and bets for jai-alai.
Bejemino reported having seen said they saw Vezera in the act of handing tally sheets to Ostan, who was on board his motorcycle at about 9:10 p.m.
The two are now detained at Police Station 8 while illegal gambling charges are being readied against them.*APN
