A Hawaiian Luau
birthday bash for Shirley
There was a cool breeze blowing gently on a moon-lit night when popular Shirley Ledesma was feted with a Hawaiian Luau birthday bash by her children at L’Fisher Chalet. Everyone came in their most colorful Hawaiian costumes. As guests came in, they were greeted by the explosion of colors as the venue was turned into a tropical paradise full of exotic flora. The celebrator, clad in a strapless sea-green outfit splashed with giant flowers, made her dramatic entrance to rapturous applause from the crowd who immediately sang, “Happy Birthday!”
After a scrumptious dinner, there was a special program which was participated in by the members of the civic clubs close to Shirley’s heart. A dance number, “To You Sweetheart, Aloha” was presented by the Soroptimist group, who looked like they had practiced for weeks. (Actually, a member whispered to me, they had just rehearsed that night in the CR!). This was followed by a Hawaiian dance number, “I Can’t Help Falling in Love”, performed by Teresa Ledesma Calvo, Grace Ferrer De Guzman and Jessica Ho. “Pearly Shells”, was danced by Andrea Camille Ledesma Javier. Edith Robillo serenaded the celebrator with a lovely song. Members of the Circulo de Bacolod danced their hearts out with, “Tiny Bubbles” to the delight of the crowd. The finale number was beautifully presented by Anne Marie Ledesma who danced like a true-blue wahini. Shirley thanked all those who came to celebrate her 75th birthday celebration, especially all those who helped make the evening a huge success.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY!*
