Crops, marine products and equipment damaged by heavy rains and floods in Negros Occidental on January 11 totaled P14.8 million, a final report submitted to Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. by Provincial Agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan showed yesterday.

Floods exacerbated by illegal logging also destroyed bridges in Negros Occidental, while others are in danger of collapse, Jose Ma. Valencia, chief of staff of Marañon Jr., also said.

In his report to the governor, Tabianan said a crab gill net worth P10,000 was destroyed in Talisay City, while in Silay City, damaged were fishpond structures, shallow fish corals and rice worth P3,560,000.

In EB Magalona, destroyed were bangus, lapu-lau, tilapia, hito and rice worth P6,725,237;  in Victorias City – rice, a fishpond dike and fishing boat  worth P4,475,100 and in Cadiz City rice totaling P53,463.*CPG
