Gov’t worker,
mechanic die in accidents
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A city government employee died after a motorcycle hit her in Brgy. Villamonte, and a mechanic was killed when he was accidentally sideswiped by a bus inside the Ceres Liner terminal at the Shopping area  in Bacolod Wednesday, the police said yesterday.

Killed were Rosalia Alzaga, 53, of Doña Juliana Subdivision, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, and Anthony Salado, 23, of Brgy. Zone 3, Catabla in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Traffic investigator, Police Officer 2 Eliseo Adraneda, said Alzaga was at crossing Burgos Extension in front of Villa Angela Subdivision in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City, at about 5:45 p.m. when she was hit by the motorcycle of Larry Perez, 32, of Sta. Fe, Brgy. Granada, Bacolod.

Alzaga was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital and later transferred to the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital where she died while being treated at about 8:45 p.m., Adraneda said.

Perez, a security guard, was also rushed to CLMMRH with injuries but he was placed in the  custody of the Bacolod City Police Traffic Management Unit after he was released from the hospital yesterday.

His Honda XRM motorcycle is impounded at Police Station 4 in Brgy. Villamonte.

Adraneda theorized that Perez may have been driving fast as Alzaga was thrown about 20 steps from the point of impact.

If no settlement is reached between Alzaga’s family and Perez, they will file charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against the security guard, Andraneda said.

TMU head, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue, meanwhile, said that Salado had just gotten out of a canal that he was cleaning at the Ceres compound at about 8 a.m. Wednesday when he was sideswiped by a bus.

The bus was being test driven by Jojie Gansiar, also a mechanic, 38, of Brgy. Nayon in San Enrique town.

Salado died while being treated at the Bacolod Doctor’s Hospital, while Gansiar is now in police custody.*APN
