Nutri-Fit  walk in city


More than 1,000 participants led by Dumaguete City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria,  joined the Nutri-fit walk held Sunday morning in Dumaguete City in observance of Nutrition Month this July, a press release from the city said.

Also present were  City Council members led by Vice Mayor Alan Gel Cordova, City Hall employees, barangay officials, members of the academe  and representatives of  business establishments.

The  celebration  theme  is “Isulong and Breastfeeding  -  Tama, Sapat, at Eksklusibo.” And  ensures successful breastfeeding practices,  Lourdes Taburasa, City Nutrition Action Officer  reportedly said.   

Sagarbarria, in his message, thanked the participants for  supporting   the activity,  the press release said.

Other activities are  a Nutrition Caravan today  at the South City Elementary School and on Thursday at the Magsaysay Memorial Elementary School; a Well Baby Contest on July 22 at the Robinson’s shopping mall, an Inter-High School Oratorical Contest, food fair and an inter-barangay booth contest, among others. 

The City Nutrition Council gave awards  for the biggest contingent school category -  Negros Oriental State University (for public school); Silliman University -  biggest contingent office category, private school category; biggest office contingent -  City Economics Enterprise Office; Barangay Banilad  -  biggest contingent organization (school level), Hospitality Management Society of NORSU; Rotary South -  biggest civic contingent, and members of KALIPI (Peoples’ Organization - biggest contingent cooperative category, Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Cooperative; biggest group donor office category, General Services Office  and in school category, Negros Oriental State University ROTC and best slogan -  Silliman University Nutrition and Dietetics students.*JFP
