Two drivers stabbed dead
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Two drivers were stabbed dead in Brgy. 24 and at the BREDCO port 3 in Bacolod City yesterday in incidents that the police said were triggered by misunderstandings.

The police identified the fatalities as Romelio de la Rosa, 32, of Purok 5 in Sitio Magsungay, Brgy. Singcang Airport, and Eddie Leones, 33, of Pauyan in Candoni town, Negros Occidental.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Johnny de la Peña said they received a phone call from Edgardo Casiple, security guard of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, informing them that de la Rosa was lying on his back with a lone stab wound on the chest near a gasoline station at Gonzaga-Mabini streets, Bacolod at about 2:30 a.m.

Casiple told the police that he saw de la Rosa in the street shouting and appearing to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor. He also said he saw the victim having an altercation with a certain “May-May”, also a trisikad driver and also resident of Sitio Magsungay.

De la Rosa was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

A manhunt operation was launched to arrest alias “May-May” who is still at large, dela Peña said.

Leones also died at CLMMRH several minutes after he was rushed there with a lone stab wound on the chest

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Orlando Caporal said Leones had a heated argument with another truck driver at about 8:35 a.m. yesterday allegedly because of a joke.

Caporal said the suspect, and “alias Nonoy Panoy,” was angered when Leones kidded him for blowing the horn of his truck. He said an alternation ensured between them and the suspect’s companion, identified as “alias Jimmy” and “alias Jimboy” ganged up on Leones until one of them stabbed him.*APN
