Senior citizens train at mall

The Bacolod City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office conducted a soap detergent and perfume making seminar and demonstration during Seniors Day  at SM City Bacolod, recently, a press release from the mall said.

Michael Vincent Mabaquiao of the Entrepreneurial Development Section Skills Training Program led trainor Gloria Arcenal and staff Jocelyn Diamonon and Lourdes Remo, in training the officers and members of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of Bacolod.

The seniors day at the mall is held every second Tuesday of the month at SM City Bacolod to continue and sustain SM’s efforts in prioritizing the welfare of  senior citizens, the press release said.

The next Seniors Day at the mall will be held at the Event Centre of SM City Bacolod at 2 p.m.  August 9.

PTC  officers inducted

The new officers of the Parent-Teachers Council of the University of St. La Salle for 2011-2012 were inducted at the University Main Chapel, recently, a press release from USLS in Bacolod City said.

Judge Jose Paolo Ariola of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 1 inducted the group headed by Cesar Torrecarion.

“We will do everything in our capacity to provide the material needs and the benefits of our students as well as uplift their spiritual nourishment,” said the former vice chairman.

Completing the group are vice chairman – Louie Montelibano, treasurer – Ma. Ruby Cantero, secretary – Jovitte Arroz, auditor – Reina Feria, assistant treasurer – Leda Arquisola, assistant secretary – Carmelita Tumbagahan, public relation officers – Anna Norwena Barillo and Salvacion Ocampo.

Torrecarion succeeded Luisito Ramos, the press release added.*

Coop nat’l gab slated

The League of Cooperative Development Officers of the Philippines Inc., together with the Cooperative Development Authority, and the local governments of Bacolod and Bago cities, will hold the 5th National Tripartite Conference Development for Cooperatives on September 21 to 23, at the Bacolod Pavillion Resort Hotel, a Bacolod City Hall press release said.

The theme of the conference is: "CDA Coop-LGUs - The Leading Edge in Cooperative Journey amidst Climate Change”.

This was announced by Arnel Agrasada at the Negros Occidental Cooperatives Development Council at their monthly meeting recently, at the MassKara Hall of the Bacolod Government Center.

The regular meeting was presided over by Negros Occidental Cooperative Development Council chairman, Nestor Bayona, and was participated in by different coop councils from San Carlos City to Hinobaan, Negros Occidental.*

Mayor to turn over
schoolbuilding today

The three-storey, 18-classroom school building of Sum-ag Elementary School at Barangay Sum-ag will be formally turned over today by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia to the Department of Education, represented by  Ma. Gemma Ledesma, Schools Division Superintendent of Bacolod City.

The project was started March 14, 2009 and completed March 16, 2010.  The implementing agency for the construction of the school building is the City Engineer’s Office of Bacolod with engineer Aladino Agbones, supervising, a City Hall press release said.

The source of fund for the project is the SEF for 2008 amounting to P3,600,000 and SEF for 2009 of P7,000,000, or a total of P10,600,000.

The turnover today is a testimony of the city government’s commitment to provide quality education as the investment for the future of the children in the city, Leonardia said.

The total student population of Sum-ag Elementary School is 3,825, with teaching personnel of 91.  Principal of Sum-ag Elementary is Ronie Tababa, the press release said.*
