Batch 94/95 and Batch 2003/2004 turned back the resistance from their opponents to capture the title in their respective divisions of the University of St. La Salle Alumni Basketball Tournament at the USLS coliseum in Bacolod City Thursday night.
Using another balanced attack, the 94/95 cagers overwhelmed Batch 85/90, with a 100-85 thrashing to complete a two-game sweep of the Group B finals.
Batch 2003/2004 also pulled off a sweep in Group A, by getting away with a 67-63 win over Batch 2006.
Jojie Viliran led Batch 94/95's explosive attack with 20 points. Batch 94/95 also got 14 points each from Rhie Tiongco, Rudyard Jaypee, Archie Tiongco and Leon Bautista.
Chico Coruna and Popoy Jamero made significant contributions with 10 and eight points, respectively, while Jed Sotto added six points.
Mark Celestial and RJ Penas took charge for Batch 2003/2004, finishing with 12 points apiece, while Eduard Castellano and Nikko Ganir combined for 18 points.
Sammy Belangel wound up with 21 points to pace Batch 85/90's losing effort. Amit Teruel added 20, John Sales had 14 and Rovil Cayabyab finished with nine.
Alex Abong and Frederick Rabacal led Batch 2006 with 11 points each, while Gerard Baranachea and Macki Pilar picked up 10 and eight points, respectively.*
