ACCI Transport post
win in Fil-Sino

AACI Transport barged into the win column by holding off AACI Farms, 108-100, and Basecom defeated JSY Countertrade, 102-88, as action heats up in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

In the first game, after a 26-all first quarter deadlock, AACI Transport zoomed to a 59-39 halftime lead as Nico Lopingco scored  15 points and teammate Stanley Bontigao added eight points.

Transport posted a commanding 88-57 third quarter lead with a balanced offense as eight players scored led by Mark Coo with eight points.

Yan Yan Dy and Jomie Montinola contributed 14 points apiece for a 43-point fourth quarter output but time was not on Farms side as Transport hold on for their first victory.

Coo and Lopingco paced Transport with 22 points each while Kenderson Hao added 14 points.

AACI Farms was led by Dy and Montinola with 21 and 19 points, respectiviely.

In the second game, Basecom outplayed JSY Countertrade in all quarters 28-13, 25-23, 24-23, 25-23 to remain atop of the standings in Class B.

Jan Jan Young powered Basecom with  23 points, Edward Uy added 21 points, Luigi Coo dropped 18 points and Sydney Chua shot 11 points.

Archie Co topscored for the losers with  20 points.

Standings as of June 2, 2011  Class A AACI  Trading 5-0, Huminova Tigers 4-1,AACI Transport 1-3 AACI Farms 1-4 Aboy’s Restaurant 1-4.

Class B Basecom 4-1, JSY Transport 3-2, Organic Solutions 3-2 Royal Star Trading 2-2, JSY Countertrade 0-5

The double round elimination will end on June 20 with the top four  teams in each bracket advancing to the quarterfinals.*with a report from Stephen Tan
