BY MARICAR ARANAS

Saint Paul University in Dumaguete City is preparing academic programs to supplement the two-year vacuum in the college level, after the implementation of the anticipated K-12 curriculum.

External Affairs Director Rafael Duhaylungsod of the university said the academic program includes the 6 months, 1-year and 2-year short term courses in Environmental Management, Tourism Operations, Animation, Food Chain Management, Agribusiness, Caregiving, Basic Teaching Strategies, Call Center Training, Software Operations, Nurse, Entrepreneurship, Midwifery and Basic Bookeeping.

Saint Paul University-Dumaguete is now offering short-term courses in Special Education and Culinary Arts. These are modular and on-line in nature, more flexible and non-traditional short term courses.

Duhaylungsod said the new programs will help students acquire skills in business and entrepreneurship.

The new program on environmental management will help the university sustain the different environmental and agricultural programs. SPUD is the only educational institution that is Styrofoam free campus and was dubbed as the Region’s Most Sustainable and Eco-friendly campus.

It also has the most visited butterfly sanctuary which has become the latest tourism destination in Negros Oriental.*MA
