Bacolod welcomes back ‘Kulafu’
in 2011 AsPac softball tournament

When the 2011 Asia Pacific Softball Regional Tournament unfolds Monday at the University of St. La Salle pitch, a familiar figure will be at the field with one of teams representing Philippines.

That man will be Hernando “Kulafu” Posadas, a multi-titled softball coach from Talisay City who steered the famous Domingo Lacson National High School softball girls to multiple Palarong Pambansa titles and impressive performances in the Junior League World Series in Kirkland, Washington in 2004 and 2005.

Kulafu, as he is popularly known, made Negros Occidental proud as member of the Philippine softball team that finished third in the 1979 Softball World Cup in Canada.

Royal Star clinches
semis spot

Royal Star Trading entered the semifinals defeating JSY Transport, 77-69, and JSY Countertrade bowed out of the semifinals losing to Organic Solutions, 87-78, in Class B of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. Intercolor Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

The win gave Royal Star its third win in seven outings, same record with JSY Transport. Both teams can only reach as high as third place in the standings.

Capiz willing to host
16th University Games

The Province of Capiz and the City of Roxas are willing to host the 16th University Games if University of St. La Salle will not accept this year’s hosting chore.

This after UniGames president Roger Banzuela said the USLS administration has yet to confirm its acceptance of hosting the annual sports event late this year.

Banzuela said he has already submitted a letter to the school and hopes to receive a response soon.
