The Dumaguete City government is celebrating Women's Month with a series of activities spearheaded by the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina, a women's group organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Office, a Philippine Information Agency press release said.
The celebration kicked off with a mass and parade on March 1, followed by a clean-up and beautification activity at the Women's Center beside the CSWDO building.
Tomorrow, KALIPI members from the different barangays in the city will convene at the Women's Center for the annual whole-day convention and on Friday, the group will once again gather for a symposium to discuss the celebration's theme, “Magna Carta of Women in the Philippines and the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women,” the press release said.
A Kapihan forum will be held March 16, in coordination with the PIA, and on March 17, KALIPI members will visit the Dumaguete City Jail at 1 p.m., followed by a peer counseling seminar from March 24 to 25 at the Women's Center.
A sportsfest of volleyball games participated in by KALIPI members is set every Saturday for the entire month.
The celebration will cap with an Awarding and Culmination Ceremony on March 30, 2 p.m. at the Women's Center during which winners of the slogan contest held simultaneously with the kick-off parade and the sportsfest will be recognized, the press release added.*PIA
