The Jr. NBA, presented by Alaska, will hold its regional selection among young basketeers on March 19 at the St. John’s Institute Activities Center in Bacolod City.

Qualified to join the tryout are boys ages 10 to 14 years old by March 1, 2011. Participants are advised to bring their original NSO-certified birth certificate and photocopy, and should present a school ID or any identification with picture.

The tryout will start with the registration of players from 10:30 a.m. up to 2 p.m., followed by the announcement of top 20 players at 4 p.m.

Easyweld’s Ruiz wins
master bowler crown

Manuel “Nonoy” Ruiz of Easyweld NPBC won the master’s title in the premiere division, as Davies’ Dan Corcelles and Tess Robles of Davies Fusion topped the non-rated and women’s category of the Tops Invitational Open Bowling Tournament at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Alley in Bacolod City.

Ruiz won over No.1 seed and twice-to-beat Ricky Ondovilla of Sharp in two games, 125-122, and 128-119 in the Class A bracket.

He earned the opportunity to challenge Ondovilla after beating Allan Baer of ASSFBI in semifinals, 121-118. Earlier, Baer beat Cesar Sumaylo of ESD Hurricane in the quarterfinals.
