nabbed for extortion

A Negrense claiming to be a member of the New People’s Army, was arrested Monday by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation in an entrapment operation in Tubungan town, Iloilo.

The arrested suspect was identified as June Tenerife of E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.

A .45 caliber pistol with five pieces of ammunition and various identification cards were also recovered from Tenerife.

Initial investigations by the NBI-Western Visayas Office said Tenerife was allegedly behind several extortion activities and a rice trader in the place, where he is temporarily residing, is among his victims.

Region 6 NBI chief Elfren Meneses Jr.,however, withheld  the identity of the rice trader for  security reasons.*GPB
