SJI hosts Jr. NBA tryout

The Jr. NBA presented by Alaska will hold its regional selection this Saturday at the St. John’s Institute Activities Center.

Boys ages 10 to 14 years old by March 1, 2011 are eligible to join the  tryout. Players are advised to bring original and photocopy of their NSO-certified birth certificate, school ID, or any identification with picture.

Registration  will be from  10:30 a.m. to  2 p.m. From 4 p.m. onwards, organizers will pick the top 10 players based on their performance during the scrimmage.

The chosen 10 players will receive and an all-expense-paid trip to Manila for the national selection set on April 9 to 11.

Legendary NBA Player A.C. Green is scheduled to arrive in Manila next month and will interact with the 50 boys who will compete with one another for the 10 slots in the national training camp at Mall of Asia.

The top 10 national campers will compose the 2011 Jr. NBA Philippines All-Star Team and will be rewarded with an authentic NBA experience and the chance to play against other Jr. NBA All-Star Teams in other countries.

Local organizers, led by Tyron Cu and Roger Montalbo, hoped that there will be players that will follow St. John’s Institute’s Kirell Brahndon Montalbo’s footsteps, who made it in last year’s All-Star team that played in Beijing.*NABto
